Safeguarding Updates

Queen Eleanor's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff, volunteers, committee members and visitors to share this commitment.  We recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and committee members, have a full and active part to play in protecting our students from harm, and that the child or young person’s welfare is our paramount concern.

The school pays full regard to Department for Education statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education - September 2023.' We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied in relation to everyone who works in the school who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult, including volunteers and staff employed by contractors.  Safer recruitment practice includes scrutinising applicants, verifying identity and academic or vocational qualifications, obtaining professional and character references, checking previous employment history and ensuring that a candidate has the health and physical capacity for the job.  It also includes undertaking in-depth interviews and conducting DBS checks.

If you have any Safeguarding concerns out of school hours/out of term then please email: dsl@queen-eleanors.surrey.sch.uk

The Good Shepherd Trust Safeguarding Statement

The Good Shepherd Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We ensure that all our employment practices reflect this commitment.

Just a quick reminder of our safeguarding guidelines for parents:

  • If parents need to speak with the teacher, please do so between 8:30am and 8.50am or after school.
  • If a parent needs to discuss something more in depth, please arrange an appointment.
  • All parents visiting the school between 9am and 3:15pm must report to the school office.
  • If a parent is collecting or bringing a child into school during the school day they should immediately report to the school office to sign the child in or out. Children should not be collected or returned directly to the class.
  • Parents must supervise their children at the end of the school day. No school equipment is to be used.
  • Any parent coming into school during the school day should sign in at the office and an identification badge must be worn. Guidelines for all parent helpers are available.
  • Please ensure your child knows how they are getting home from school and reinforce to your child that they should back into school if they cannot find who is collecting them.
