Queen Eleanor's C of E Junior School

Queen Eleanor's C of E Junior School"A caring, supportive community, grounded in a Christian ethos, where children are inspired to explore their potential and develop skills for life."

Curriculum

Queen Eleanor’s C of E Junior School was opened in the 1940s.  The school used to be a secondary school in the old Surrey system and as a consequence, the school accommodation is excellent.  The class areas are significantly larger than many schools and provide the children with a huge amount of space for working.  There are also separate facilities for physical education, music, drama and ICT work.  We are fortunate to have both a school hall and a gym.  The hall also includes a large purpose built stage which is used for the many productions and class assemblies we have each year.  The library is situated in the heart of the school and is an excellent resource for study.  We also have our own outdoor swimming pool which is used for up to five months a year and allows all of our children to receive a minimum of an hour coaching a week.  We also offer an after school swimming club for each year group.

The school stands in a four acre site in the heart of Onslow Village in Guildford.  It provides for safe, varied and stimulating work opportunities as well as space for play.  We have recently built an allotment and are planning to create further creative play areas on the site in the near future.

The school is organised into 12 classes with three classes in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. The current number on roll is 353.  The school has 13 teachers which includes one job share class in Year 6.   In addition, there are 14 Teaching Assistants who support the classes and maths groups across the school.

The children are enthusiastic, well-motivated and their independence and creativity is fostered.  Standards achieved are equal to or above the National Average in all core and foundation subjects.   Practical, first hand work is a real focus of our curriculum which follows a topic based system.  A successful OFSTED Inspection was achieved in September 2017.

We also run a Before School Club and there is an onsite After School Care run by a third party - Hoptune Ltd.
