Eco school
Students at Queen Eleanor's earned an international accreditation last academic year, recognising their amazing work in making their school more environmentally friendly and raising eco-awareness among fellow students and are aiming to continue this achievement for a second year in a row.
The Eco-Schools programme was established in 1994 and is now delivered in more than 70 countries across the globe. More than 1 million students attended an Eco-School in England in 2022-23.
The Eco council is a special kind of council, designed to help the school help the environment. It is made up of two elected pupils from each class who meet with the ECO co-ordinator regularly to discuss and plan how to improve our own school environment and that of the wider world. The representatives hold class reviews of their meetings to keep everyone informed of their plans.
This year we started by completing a review to help build our action plan. Here are our results:
We then decided that we would focus on litter, transport and energy. We make sure that we provide regular updates in our school newsletter.
Here is our in school display that showcases some of the wonderful things we have been doing:

This term we have really focused on reducing litter and packaging we produce so please help us to promote healthy eating and using reusable pots for our healthy snacks.
