Working days: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8am-2.45pm.

The role of the HSLW is to offer support, advice and information to the families within our school. Support will always be offered in a non-judgemental environment. The HSLW works as part of a team who may not have all the answers, but will endeavour to support you in working out a way to be able to find them. 

Support the HSLW is able to offer includes, but is not limited to:

· Facilitating communications between the school and yourselves

· Providing information and signposting to external services in the local area such as local family centres, charities offering financial support for vulnerable children and foodbanks

· Helping you to understand and access this information from external agencies, that can offer support to your child

· Parenting guidance and support

· Improving relationships within the family

· Enabling a child with difficulties to talk about concerns in a confidential, non-judgemental environment

· Promoting good mental health in a child though helping build resilience, improve self-esteem, anger management and reducing worries by using agreed strategies to help themselves

· Providing practical help and emotional support to you and your child, during times of crisis e.g. bereavement, separation, domestic violence or sudden financial problems

· Keeping you updated with local upcoming events and groups that might be of interest

Advice and support is confidential, however, any concern relating to the safeguarding of children will always be dealt with in accordance with the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.

Referrals 

From Tuesday 4th November 2025, we will be operating a referral system in order to provide you and your children with the most appropriate level of support. If you believe that you or your child require additional support, please complete a referral form (this can be found below or a copy can be sent from the school office) and email it to referral@queen-eleanors.surrey.sch.uk 

The referral team will meet on a Thursday morning to discuss and triage all referrals. The members of staff involved in this process are Mrs Davies (Headteacher), Miss Walton (Deputy Headteacher), Ms Patterson (SENCO) and Emily (HSLW): all of these staff are on our safeguarding team (DSL). Once triaged, you will be contacted by the most appropriate member of staff in which to support with the referral. Within a week of the triage meeting, you will receive communication regarding the next steps in order to provide the relevant support for you and your child.
